In June 2022 the Norwegian manufacturer of outdoor furniture, VESTRE AS, opened the world’s most environmentally friendly furniture factory – the PLUS. The factory is the largest investment in the Norwegian furniture industry for decades – an investment which included a CALDAN overhead conveyor solution.

The PLUS, named after its shape with four factory wings, was designed by world-renowned architect company Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), which among others designed Google’s headquarters. The green roof is covered with natural forest vegetation, and nearly 900 solar cell panels supplying energy to the building…

Scandinavian Sales Manager, Christian Calundan says: “We were very excited to be selected as conveyor supplier for a project as visionary as this. The PLUS project clearly shows that sustainability and highly efficient manufacturing is combinable, and we expect to see an industry move in this direction in the future”. Project Manager Marcus Henningsson adds: “I visited the PLUS several times while we were installing the system and after the project was completed.
